About
Imagine a fun, informative and invigorating snowshoe with gorgeous views high up on beautiful Mt. Werner guided by a Steamboat Ambassador. Upon reaching your destination at Rendezvous Saddle at 9,300 feet, you will be treated to a delectable gourmet lunch and a refreshing glass of wine at Ragnar’s, our premium mid-mountain Norwegian style restaurant. What better way to spend a glorious day in the mountains!
Hours
Tours are available Monday through Friday and begin at 10:00am. You’ll snowshoe approximately 1.5 miles each way with lunch running from approximately 12:00-1:00pm. The tour finishes at the base of Mt. Werner at about 2:30 - 3:00pm. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Call 879-0740, 871-5191 or 1-800-922-2722.
Location
The Guided Gourmet Snowshoe Tour meets at the Information Center located directly across from the Main Ticket Office and Gondola building at the base of the ski area.
Snowshoe Rentals
Snowshoe rentals are available for $10.00 at the Information Center in Gondola Square. Please be sure and pick up the snowshoes before your scheduled tour.

About
Shoe the Boat! Guided snowshoe tours through Steamboat’s backcountry. All equipment and transportation provided. We provide: snowshoes, poles, water bottles, and day pack. Lunch is included on all day trips.
Guides carry: first aid kit, extra hat, gloves, cell phone, maps, compass, binoculars, sunscreen, duct tape, and more.
You should bring: Hiking boots, hat, sunglasses, camera.
How to dress: It is best to dress in layers. Start with a poly-pro or similar material, long underwear layer. Depending on the temperature you will generally have one or two additional clothing layers made of thin to medium thickness "breathable" material. Always bring a good quality water proof or water resistant parka. Snowshoeing is a vigorous aerobic activity and it will warm you up even on the coldest day.

Guides will pick up clients at their location within town/mountain area. Call upon arrival to Steamboat to reconfirm reservation and pick-up time.
Location
The Vertical Grip Climbing Gym is at 1479 S. Lincoln Ave. across the highway from Ski Haus and next to Alpine Lumber.
Rates
1/2 Day Snowshoe Tours
All half day tours are approximately 3-3.5 hours long, (actual snowshoeing is about 2-2.5 hours). Your guide for the day will pick you up and drop you off at your lodging. We have a number of different locations to choose from, depending on weather conditions, physical ability of client, and client preferences. i.e. Rabbit Ears Pass, Lake Catamount, Fish Creek Falls. We have igloos built on some trips that are great places to warm up and have a snack. VISA/MC accepted. Guide tips are appreciated.
Cost: $70/person for groups of 2-5 people. $145 for a private (1 Person) tour. |
Full Day Snowshoe Tours
Tours start at 9:00 AM and return at approximately 4:00. Lunch is included. We have many places to choose from, Mt. Zirkel Wilderness Area, Sarvis Creek Wilderness Area, Rabbit Ears Pass, and more.
Cost: $145/person for groups of 2-5 people. $250 for a private (1 person) tour. |
Full Moon Snowshoe Tours
On the 2 days prior, 2 days after, and actual day (5 nights) of the Full Moon. We will have wine and cheese at our igloo before our return. We leave from Vertical Grip Gym at 6:00 PM and return approx. at 9:00 PM. Flashlights provided.
Cost: $75/person for groups of 2-5. |
Wildlife Snowshoe Tours
Join us for a 1/2 day snowshoe tour of a Buffalo Ranch and prime elk habitat. We guarantee you will see buffalo and there is a very good chance of seeing elk herds. We often see deer, fox, coyotes, rabbits and bald eagles. Your guide for the day will pick you up and drop you off at your local lodging.
Cost: $70/person for groups of 2-5 people plus $145 for a private (1 person) tour. |
