Driving Directions to Steamboat

Denver International Airport to I-70 West

  • Go West on Pena Blvd. (Turns into Airport Blvd.) for approximately 10 miles.
  • Take the I-70 West on-ramp.

I-70 to Steamboat:

1. Head West on Rocky Mountain Interstate I-70 going towards Idaho/ Grand Junction. This is the beginning of your scenic drive. Take I-70 West approximately 78 miles.

2.  Take Exit #205  to the Dillon/ Silverthorne . 

3.  Proceed North on CO 9 approximately 38 miles to Kremmling.

4.  Turn left onto US Hwy 40 West, follow for approximately 50 miles over Rabbit Ears pass to Steamboat Springs. (Along this 2-lane highway you'll cross the Continental Divide, pass cliffs that overlook silvery lakes and streams, and spectacular vistas. You might want to stop along the way to take photos.)

5.  Once in Steamboat, US-40 becomes US-40/S Lincoln Ave.

6.  Take a right at the Mt. Werner exit. Turn right on Mt. Werner Road.  Follow signs to the Ski Area for approximately 0.7 miles.

Hayden/ Yampa Valley Regional Airport to Steamboat:

1.  Exit the airport and proceed to Highway 40.

2.  Turn right and take Highway 40 approx. 20 miles East to Steamboat Springs.

3.  Take the Mt. Werner exit. Turn left onto Mt. Werner Road.

4.  Follow Mt. Werner Rd. for approximately 0.7 miles.
